Jogging has become one of my favourite pastimes. Wow!
In all my years, I never thought I would make that statement. As a well known TV advertisement would announce:
I’m Loving It
Those that know me very well, will be as surprised as I am at the fact that I have pulled on a pair of trainers, let alone run in them. It’s just not something I would do, or contemplate.
I’m amazed that the urge to run occurred, and the fact that I actually carried out the deed. I’m very pleased I listened to my inner self on this occasion. It is quite exhilarating to take note of something I frequently ignore – and then get in trouble over. Lol 😂
I’d like to thank all those that have given me the encouragement to do what I’m doing. It has been appreciated. Thank You!
While some of those that have encouraged me are runners, I’m not yet confident enough to run alongside them, but I do believe that will come in time… only if they are willing to suffer my warped sense of humour. They’ve only themselves to blame ☺
My latest observation:
- Distance: 0.83 mile
- Speed: 5.0 mph
- Heart Rate: 152
- Time: 09:55
For my latest run, I decided to try to pick up my pace, ever so slightly, to see how I would cope. I did feel ok.
My average speed was 5mph, and top speed was 6mph. At the rate I was running, I would have reached the 1 mile mark in 11m 55 secs. An average person would walk 1 mile in around 20 minutes.
One thing I have notice of late is that my legs are beginning to feel looser as I run. In early attempts at jogging, my legs have felt as though they were made from tree trunks. I’m not kidding!
For tracking my runs, I’ve begun to use the Runtastic app. I know there are similar apps out there, but this app suits my requirements very well. Its easy to use and uncluttered. The voice prompts and maps are a great help to me. My latest route can be seen above.
